History
Established in March, 1991, the IGNOU Regional Centre at Pune, aimed to cater to the requirements and support to the distance learners of Maharashtra. IGNOU Regional Centre for Maharashtra was established in 1991 with Regional Office at Pune with 13 study centres. Prior to 1991, the Regional Centre of Ahmedabad catered to the study centres. The number of study centres steadily increased, necessitating the establishment of 2 more Regional Centre in Maharashtra at Mumbai and at Nagpur. Presently the Regional Centre of Pune caters to 15 districts of Western Maharashtra and parts of Marathwada.
